RE: "flipping the axles"

We had our axles "flipped" on our toyhauler this year and it has made a huge difference - for the better. I have to agree with mainetom, I think there is now less drag underneath the trailer. Also the added the comfort of knowing we won't drag the back end is huge. It was a positive for us and we feel made the truck and trailer more level. I have pictures if you would like to see.

Trailer Fire

I thought I would share - this happened yesterday afternoon in Boise. Would definitely be interested in knowing what caused the spark to make this happen. Luckily no one was hurt and they were able to unhitch the truck.

RE: Your Favorite Boondocking Pics

Our favorite spot on the Boise River in the Pine/Featherville Area. Normally we can back up the river bank and drop the ramp on our toyhauler and have a "deck" looking over the river but the river was way too high and moving way too fast.

RE: Lost our local S&S dealer

They filed BK - I saw it in the Business Review. Also the owners filed as well.
For anyone who has stuff stored there they have to let them have it - they might to contact to BK court to get it though.

That's too bad - my dad was just starting to look at getting a pop-up camper. I am not sure who else here sells them. This is case in point where the little guy is suffering . . .

RE: gaining some ground clearance

We did buy it new - the axles I think had a two year warranty we did it after the 1st year. We did not have our dealer do it so I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
We decided that it was worth it to not be scraping our way into stuff into spots and really doing some damage. And like I said our trailer tows much better now - it was definely worth it to us. But I know where you are coming from - that's why we waited one year.

I tried to see if I had a picture showing the steps but I don't - I can take one if you want to see. Luckily our trailer already had the 3rd step so we didn't have to buy one. Let me know if you have any other questions or would like to see more pictures.

RE: gaining some ground clearance

We just had ours done in May and love it. Best thing we have done to the trailer so far. If you are worried about ground clearance I would definitely do this.
As far as stability we have not noticed that - in fact we actually feel the trailer pulls better now - like the truck and trailer are now aligned better. It was nice to pull into our favorite campsite this weekend with the peace of mind that we weren't going to drag like we did last year. If you have any questions let me know - I also have pictures before and after.

RE: Electric Tongue Jack and Tailgate

Thank you everyone for the replies. I emailed Ultra Fab this morning and right on par they called me about 2 hours later suggesting we rotate the power head. So that sounds like what we will probably do.
Thanks again

Electric Tongue Jack and Tailgate

I hope this is the right spot for this:
I recently just purchased an Ultra Fab 3502 Electric Tongue Jack. After an almost comedic installation (if it could go wrong it did) we finally got to use it on our first trip. We noticed that we can no longer put our tailgate down which is sort of a problem since we put our dogs in the back.
We tried to rotate it but it appears the holes don't line up when doing so. Does anyone have any suggestions? Can we drill into the tongue to make new ones? Will this weaken it?
As always thanks for the help!

Thanks for the update. We hoping to get up there this summer especially once the fishing season opens. That is too bad that was a really nice area to camp in.

RE: Some of Our Trailer Mods

Thanks everyone!
Well here's my secret on the spoon rack - it's actually a tie holder we got at lowes that we painted to match the handles on the cabinets. My husband cut teh top piece off. There is plexiglass behine it to protect the wall.
That is a knife holder underneath it - when we bought the trailer it was just a strip of wood and so we checked underneath and there wasn't anything there so we took it off and cut holes in it for the knives.
Yes my husband reminded that I need to stock the toyhauler with his dirtwheels magazines as well.

RE: Some of Our Trailer Mods

Not today - it was 90 degrees. We had an almost 30 degree change this week.
I'm jealous of you guys because you can camp and ride year round. We are dying to get our rig out. Memorial Day will be our first trip of year - going to St. Anthony to ride the dunes.
